The audience of my project include college students (mostly juniors and seniors that are present in a job hunt post – graduation). For my genre, I decided to incorporate social media and pretend to do a series of Facebook posts. Because Instagram has brief captions and seems informative, I chose Facebook as my social media platform because less younger kids and teenagers have it where this information would not apply to them, you can share Facebook posts directly to your profile and it will stay pinned there, and most college students are on it a good amount for a variety of reasons. The attached media is a pdf of what would be a series of posts all belonging to a single profile. My purpose and intention with this project layout is to address students who are headed into the workplace with a bunch of different generations, and advise them on what they should know and expect from employers. This is just my draft so I plan to take feedback I receive to have it updated for the final.
I am also doing a social media post, and I like how you really thought of which audience you want to target, hence why you chose facebook. Your post itself was very informative, and I appreciated the progression of your purpose starting with addressing what our generation finds to be pretty normal (being on phones a lot) and then explaining how older generations view such action as a negative.
I really like the idea of a social media post since every young adult is on it. My main concern with your post is that I was reading each “post” as a headline to a more detailed paragraph. I suggest that you separate some of the text, so each post has bold letters that are eye-catching, and then lighter text that elaborates on the headline. This would also help with the factor of attention span; a lot of people scrolling through social media often don’t finish reading things because they are looking for quick reads. If you were to make bolder headlines that are meant to hook the reader in a bit more, and then smaller detailed information underneath I think you’ll be able to make a more compelling series of Facebook posts.
The concept of using Facebook posts to show the messaging in your final project is really cool as well as the topic of generational gap. This is a very real phenomenon that i’m almost positive every single person who’s a student in this class has experienced in one way or another. I can’t wait to see the final project, this is intriguing!
