Response 8/18

My project will be directed at young people entering the workforce. The goal is to educate future employees on how to proactively identify and address issues of sexism and sexual assault in the work setting.

The form of my project will be an infographic. The example I located explained how to stop the spread of germs (specifically respiratory diseases like COVID).  I like that infographic I located incorporated a combination texts with visual elements. This style can be very informative yet can be an easy and engaging read. However, this infographic has less text/facts than I would like to include. The content within this source has the ability to show more visually with pictures than my topic will.  I do like the conciseness and organizational components  of this graphic because it effectively gets the main points across. I also thought the color scheme worked well. I enjoy making infographics and am excited to see how mine turns out.

  1. Sounds promising. Give some thought to the rhetorical situation you’re imagining here–is this something that would be delivered electronically (i.e. on a website)? or in print (i.e. a poster-sized text)? That will give you some clarity on the image size and volume of content that you can manage, as well as the font size.

Start thinking, too, about how you plan to document your sources. Check out my most recent post for some more on that subject.

  2. Hi Joanna,

I think an infographic is a great idea, especially for this topic. I am doing a poster, and although different than an infographic, challenges are still brought up with both, regarding texts/graphics. The poster I found incorporated less text than I would intend to have as well and was very blank. The challenge I think we will both have would be the ratio between texts and graphics, while also getting straight to the point with our message. I feel like graphics can sometimes deliver a message even better than words, so I am interested to see what you come up with. I think your infographic will be very successful, and I can’t wait to see it!
