  1. 2. For the advertisement on teen pregnancy, the author relies heavily on research. Given that this text is a picture, a lot has to be conveyed to the audience in a short glance – and this is definitely accomplished by the author. The photo has an alarming statistic written across of it, which helps serve both its purpose and exigence. Its exigence come through the small paragraph to the right of the advertisement, which evokes pathos in the audience through its personalization of the baby plastered on this text. Lastly, its purpose is emitted through the powerful statistic being written again, this time less personalized, yet packing the same punch, as it explains that children born to teen mothers are twice as likely to drop out of school.

    1. The author of the “Rewind to the Future” text is an organization titled the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta . They created this video advertisement with the hopes of explaining to parents that the eating and lifestyle habits that they instill on their children is what sets a tone for the rest of their life. Vice versa, it also explains to adults that their eating habits trace back to their childhood. The video shows a man having a heart attack, and it follows that man throughout his late and early adult life, all the way to his toddlerhood. It shows that a lack of encouragement from parents to eat healthy and keep active lead to a similarly destructive life style in the future. This text came to be because of the rising levels of obesity among adults and even young children in America. Given that being so over weight is a danger to one’s health, the country’s obesity rates are concerning and have been a hot-topic for many organizations.
