1. Find and analyze two rhetorical situations for one of the texts.
i.e. Author, Audience, Purpose, Context, Purpose, Exigence
2. Locate and Explain (couple of sentences) examples of how the text uses research material and what purpose that material serves.
*Do this process for two of the four sources you have posted thus far*
1. The World Health Organization Public Health and Environment Global Strategy Overview is an interesting piece to look at. The author is the organization itself with the purpose of the piece being to outline their position on public health and environment. The audience is anyone whom public health affects, which is everyone. The rhetorical situation I find interesting here is that they start with a section titled “Focus on Primary Prevention”. This makes it seem the most important, and why not? Prevention of public health issues would nullify the need for public health concerns to begin with. They then go on to talk about their major areas of work and from there go into more detail on each area.
2. The research included in this piece is substantial in both quantity and quality. It is also information that they themselves have found through their own processes. This information works to verify this organizations’ purpose and position’s but it also verifies their credibility as a public health research organization.
